Lore
“"To whom much is given, much is expected..."
Having witnessed the terrors wrought by the Garlean Empire, a young Yugiri made the pilgrimage from her Raen home to the village of the shinobi, seeking tools with which she might fight the Empire. Through years of inhuman trials, she learned the ways of the shinobi—how to fight from the shadows—eventually earning the rank of "jonin." Having thus mastered ninjutsu and being given the epithet "Mistwalker," she pledged herself to the remnants of the Doman general's clan. Thereafter, she waged a war against the Garlean Army. Alas, the rebellion ended in defeat, and the Domans lost everything. Obeying her lord's orders, Yugiri led a number of her countrymen in flight. Though the journey was long and arduous, she never allowed her people to despair, and, at the end, found them a new home. At twenty-six summers, she continues her fight alongside her the Scions and the Eorzean Alliance, but has not once forgotten about her homeland or her people's desire to one day return. Her lone indulgence is a bowl of rice doused in warm soup and topped with a small pinch of ground white radish—a Doman delicacy.

“Like many born in the hidden underwater sanctuary of Sui-no-Sato, Yugiri was curious about the outside world, and as a child she and a friend journeyed to the surface to spy upon a coastal fishing village. Though her friend grew fearful and returned home alone, the bold Yugiri ventured further inland and me t a boy not much younger than herself, who shared with her tales of Doma and imperial oppression. Afraid of what might become of her own home, she returned to her parents and urged them to do something to help the boy and his people, but neither they nor any of the other adults would listen. In spite of this, Yugiri never forgot the boy's words, and when she was old enough, she defied the will of her elders and was forever barred from her home. Years later, in a curious twist of fate, when she answered the Liberation Front's call for assistance, she was greeted by none other than the boy, now a man grown, she had met so many years ago: Hien Rijin.

Favored Weapons
Unmarked Yoshimitsu Blades
“Unmarked Yoshimitsu Blades: These daggers were given to Yugiri by the Lominsan thalassocracy as a token of gratitude for her aid. Though they carry no name, the arms are said to be the work of the legendary weaponsmith, Yoshimitsu. Originally, they were forged as the blades of Far Eastern polearms, but have since been refashioned into their current form.

Story Involvement
Yugiri was first introduced during Patch 2.2, arriving in Vesper Bay as the masked leader of a group of Doman refugees. She became a fast and firm ally of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, who would do much to help her displaced people find a new home in Revenant's Toll after their initial petition to Ul'dah was denied.[1] Yugiri would do much to ensure her debt did not go unpaid, most notably through helping the Scions escape a Monetarist plot to frame them, and enabling their later escape to Coerthas at the opening of the Heavensward expansion. Though she spent little time on-screen during the bulk of the Dragonsong War, Yugiri's work in the shadows would prove invaluable for helping the Scions reunite with the rest of their missing comrades.
Yugiri would finally reveal her face during the Stormblood expansion, notably appearing on the rooftops of Kugane during the expansion's cinematic trailer, before continuing to play a central role in much of the player's adventures in Othard. Details of her personal history would also be revealed during this expansion, including her origins from the submerged village of Sui-no-Sato and the parents she left behind there.
Further details about Yugiri's past, including the story of how she met Hien, would be elaborated on in more depth during the Endwalker expansion, during class quests when the Domans request the aid of a skilled marksman (or markswoman) to help them bring down a Blasphemy haunting their skies. Once again donning a mask to conceal her identity, she at last had a chance to return to her home of Sui-no-Sato and even speak with her parents in the pursuit of information about the deadly monstrosity.
