“Continuing the arboreal metaphor, the aptly named Understory is Eulmore's trunk. This level has been repurposed for Eulmore's military, and features makeshift barracks and supply closets. The architecture is deliberately fortress-like, allowing a small force to prevent access to the upper layers in the event of an uprising from below.

The Mainstay
This massive pillar provides a core of support for the layers of city above. As it does not connect with the ground, however, the actual weight of upper levels is offset by crystals harvested from a floating island. The overall construction supposedly minimizes the impact of tremors.
Eulmoran Army Headquarters
The offices of the vaunted Eulmoran military. Though once ensconced in the Canopy above, the change in policy which accompanied Lord Vauthry's investiture as ruler saw the army fall in prominence, its officers relegated to the mid-layer chambers which once served as the city's gaol.
