You can sense a plot forming behind Apyaahi's mischievous eyes.

— In-game description

Steps

Journal

  • You can sense a plot forming behind Apyaahi's mischievous eyes.
  • Apyaahi wastes no time in determining her next course of action: overthrowing Tuliyollal to free Tural from the tyranny of nationhood. With your deception finally having borne fruit, you rush to Xbalyav Ty'e to share these grave tidings with Rral Majun.
  • Troubled yet unsurprised by your news, Rral Majun and Br'uk Evu have tidings of their own to share: a familiar group of allies has but recently arrived in the city. As if summoned by this remark, your five companions during the search for the treasures walk into Xbalyav Ty'e. Apparently, they just returned from following a suspicious group from Tuliyollal to Shaaloani, and surmise that they may very well be the enforcers Apyaahi intends for you to meet. Ceetol Ja suggests splitting up, with her group going to Shaaloani to find out the details of Apyaahi's plan, and the other working to uncover the secrets of her treasure. Kuiyki asks to join her on her trek to Shaaloani, and apparently has a plan that will make the mission easier─which of course, involves you.
  • Kuiyki reveals that she has the Dreamweave Cocoon with her, which will allow you to mimic Apyaahi's form and demand information from her minions. With your plan settled, the three of you depart to Hhusatahwi.
  • At the saloon in Hhusatahwi, Kuiyki gives you the Dreamweave Cocoon, and instructs you to imagine Apyaahi's features. You close your eyes and concentrate, and when you open them, you look down to see you've successfully taken on the form of the vixen Viera. Putting on your best impression of a whimsical villainess, you enter the saloon and approach the shady-looking men.
    • ※If the transfiguration should fade, speak with Kuiyki again to be changed back into Apyaahi.
  • Despite your impeccable disguise, the Unbound enforcer meets you with suspicion. Perhaps a sufficiently liberated pose will convince him of who you are─or who you are pretending to be, at least.
  • Convinced by your mastery of the pose, the henchmen eagerly discuss Apyaahi's plan to attack the city of Tuliyollal. Eventually, they mention something about how she plans to build an army, but before they can elucidate further, Ceetol Ja calls you by linkshell and informs you that the real Apyaahi is soon to enter the saloon. You quickly change back into your original form and meet the Viera downstairs, who seems ready to enact her plot at any moment. Apyaahi goes to meet her cohorts, while you rush to Ceetol Ja to share your findings.
  • Relieved that you were able to extract information from the enforcers before Apyaahi interrupted you, Ceetol Ja tells you that Tentoawa and the others have but recently arrived, and can be found out of sight some distance from the aetheryte.
  • After everyone present exchanges information, the group surmises that Apyaahi's treasure can exert some kind of control over wild beasts. Tentoawa suggests that your best tactic will be to cut off her forces at Zorgor the Boundless, and volunteers to remain in the town to keep watch over her movements. You travel to Tuliyollal to share these new developments with Rral Majun.
  • Though news of a potential army marching towards Tuliyollal unsettles Rral Majun, she is quick to regain her composure, vowing to inform the Landsguard of the coming threat. You steel yourself for the battle ahead, knowing that the very foundation of order in Tural is at stake.

Dialogue

Accepting the quest

Apyaahi: Now that the night sky has energized us, it is time to take action. Our goal is no less than to see every nation of the world crumble! Yet we must start somewhere...
Apyaahi: I was struck by how much had changed during my most recent visit to Tural, when I gathered the first group of my chosen leaders.
Apyaahi: At the time I encountered the Wise One, no ruler had united the continent under one banner. Uncertainty was in the air, but so was the scent of freedom.
Apyaahi: I had never seen a place quite like it. So much did it intrigue me, in fact, that I adopted a Shetona name for myself.
Apyaahi: Yet now that same freedom that I found so appealing is bound by the restrictions of state. And each day that passes, those binds grow tighter.
Apyaahi: That is why our first course of action shall be to return Tural to what it once was. To liberate it from the tyranny of Tuliyollal.
Apyaahi: While my previous leaders were avatars of self-indulgence, they never quite grasped the concept of overthrowing a nation. It falls to us to set a precedent for future leaders to follow.
Apyaahi: Go to Tural and get the lay of the land. Venture to Hhusatahwi in Shaaloani, and rendezvous with my enforcers at the local tavern. You may await further orders there.
System: Apyaahi's scheme has been laid bare. You should bring this information to Rral Majun in Tuliyollal.

Speak with Rral Majun in Tuliyollal (cutscene)

Rral Majun: Forename, you are returned! Were you able to track down Apyaahi?
Rral Majun: I see... Her methods for testing the mettle of her would-be leaders are as unique as the candidates themselves.
Rral Majun: Yet learning that her next target is Tuliyollal only makes this sinking feeling in my stomach worse.
Rral Majun: This revelation doesn't come as a complete surprise, you see. We've heard whispers of a plot against the city, and have been aiding the Landsguard with investigating leads.
Br'uk Evu: While you were abroad, some familiar faces showed up to lend a hand.
Br'uk Evu: Oh, speak of the vidraal!
Tentoawa: When Br'uk Evu sent word you meant to pursue Apyaahi, we were eager to join the hunt. Yet right as we were arranging a ship to cross the ocean, we spied a suspicious group disembarking at the port, and decided we might better aid you by tracking their movements.
Loashkana: They claimed to be looking for work and obtained permission to travel to Shaaloani.
Loashkana: Yet upon arriving, they went to work of a different sort, asking anyone they could find about Tuliyollal and the inner workings of its government and defenses.
Tepeke: When not bothering the people of Shaaloani, they loaf about in Hhusatahwi. The master of the tavern there said the group spend long hours talking to other patrons, rarely ordering a thing, and going on about some “plan.”
Br'uk Evu: Clearly, they are the enforcers Apyaahi mentioned. We need to find out what they're planning and how Apyaahi's treasure fits into the picture. Then we can figure out how to stop them!
Ceetol Ja: Let's split up. If these enforcers are as talkative as they seem, I'm sure it won't be hard to eavesdrop.
Kuiyki: Let me help, too. I have an idea that might make things easier.
Kuiyki: But it requires Doctor to aid us. I hope you can oblige?
Tentoawa: Then it's settled. Loashkana, Tepeke, and I will work to uncover the nature of Apyaahi's treasure.
Rral Majun: These linkpearls should make it easier to communicate. I bought them from a foreign sailor─I knew they'd come in handy sooner rather than later.
Tentoawa: Alright, once we've discovered something, we'll meet you at the aetheryte plaza in Hhusatahwi.
Kuiyki: Now then, follow me and I'll tell you about this idea of mine.

Optional Dialogue

Rral Majun: Welcome! If there are any details you'd like to confirm about the Passage of the Unbound's wicked plan, I should be glad to share all I can.
What will you ask?
> How are things?
> Tell me about the sacred treasures.
> Tell me about the Passage of the Unbound.
< How are things? >
Rral Majun: Thank goodness you uncovered Apyaahi's plot to attack Tuliyollal! If only we had more definite details, we might better prepare...
< Tell me about the sacred treasures. >
Rral Majun: They are objects of incredible power, passed down through generations to clans hailing from all corners of Tural.
Rral Majun: Within each is sealed the essence of an animal which became a fearsome tural vidraal, and these have come to be revered by their respective peoples.
Rral Majun: These treasures allow their wielder to harness the power of the beast within them, and thus have the clans protected their homes.
Rral Majun: If Apyaahi is to be believed, the treasures were created by an individual of the Yok Huy. Luckily, it seems she possesses the last one, so if you can bring her down, we need no longer fear that they will be misused!
< Tell me about the Passage of the Unbound. >
Rral Majun: What did that Apyaahi call it, again? Oh, yes, a “secretive, villainous order,” and of that I've no doubt. The six of them sat right over there and didn't order a single thing the whole time!
Rral Majun: Apyaahi seemed to be their self-styled leader, and claimed their goals were to sow discord throughout the world and make its nations crumble in the process. Stealing the treasures was only a means to this end, it seems.
Rral Majun: They succeeded in their initial goal, and have since fled back across the sea. However, it would appear that each thief has retreated to a different destination.
Rral Majun: The retrieval of the treasures is paramount, both to bring peace to these troubled peoples and to quell the threat of further evil!
Ceetol Ja: What clever plan does she have in store?

Speak with Kuiyki

Kuiyki: I have something that will make our job a lot easier: the Dreamweave Cocoon. The village elder understood how much it means to me to bring the Unbound to justice for their crimes─and entrusted me to do so once and for all.
Kuiyki: You've met this Apyaahi in the flesh, yes? That means you can use the cocoon to imitate her!
Ceetol Ja: It can do that!? Why, I was ready to use stealth and deception, but this will make getting the information we need much easier!
Kuiyki: My thinking exactly! But it will all be for nothing if Apyaahi reaches them before we do. So let's make our way to Hhusatahwi at once!

Optional Dialogue

Ceetol Ja: You probably don't even need the treasure to fool Apyaahi's underling. I've seen firsthand how skilled you are at the art of disguise!

Speak with Kuiyki at Hhusatahwi

Kuiyki: I took a peek inside and saw a few rough-looking types who didn't sound Turali gathered around one of the tables. Doubtless they're our targets.
Kuiyki: There's no one fitting Apyaahi's description, so she probably hasn't arrived yet. This is our chance!
Ceetol Ja: We can hear everything from out here, so we'll keep watch in case Apyaahi makes an appearance. If she does, we'll call you on linkpearl!
Kuiyki: Alright, Forename, take the Dreamweave Cocoon in hand, and in your mind's eye envision that wicked woman!
System: You will be transfigured into Apyaahi. You must remain transfigured in order to progress with quest objectives.
System: You will return from your transfigured status if you move too far away. Look to your map for the transfiguration's area of effect. If necessary, speak with Kuiyki to restore the transfiguration.

Optional Dialogue

Ceetol Ja: We'll stand lookout here, so you can focus on doing your best impression of a villain!
Unbound Enforcer: Who're you? A leader? Whose leader? You know what─I don't give a damn, just get out of my sight.
System: In order to progress further in the quest, you must be under the transfigured status. Speak with Kuiyki to receive the transfiguration.
Kuiyki: It's hard to maintain focus on the transformation if you're not used to it. Don't worry, though─just take the Dreamweave Cocoon in hand and envision Apyaahi in your head to try again!

While transfigured, speak with the Unbound enforcer

Unbound Enforcer: Oh, Boss─ Wait...you told us not to trust anyone, even yourself.
Unbound Enforcer: If you are who I think you are, then do the pose. We've all got sore arms from practicing it so much!
System: Make them think you are Apyaahi by performing the Pose of the Unbound while transfigured.

While transfigured, strike an unbound pose in front of the Unbound enforcer

Unbound Enforcer: No one but you could strike a pose half as inspiring! We've been waiting, Boss.

Cutscene

Gormless Thug: Now that you're here...that means it's time to mobilize, right?
What will you say?
> Have you done what I asked?
> You remember what the plan is, right?
< Have you done what I asked? >
Gormless Thug: I...think we have it memorized. Still, it couldn't hurt to review what you told us.
< You remember what the plan is, right? >
Gormless Thug: Of course, Boss! We each memorized a different part to make sure we don't forget it!
Gormless Thug: We'll launch our attack from the gates of Tuliyollal!
Unbound Enforcer: Ceruleum barrels will blow it to bits in a fantastic explosion!
Graceless Thug: And Ellerete's concoction will give us the strength to crush the Landsguard like ants!
Ceetol Ja: A simple plan for simple villains, don't you think? Keep pressing them for information, Forename!
What will you say?
> And what is my role in the attack?
> And how will my artifact aid you?
Maahwi: What'll you be having?
What will you say?
> Your finest libations to lift our spirits!
> Excuse me, we're in the middle of something.
< Your finest libations to lift our spirits! >
Gormless Thug: What? You're actually ordering something? You told us the free don't have to spend coin just to sit at a table.
< Excuse me, we're in the middle of something. >
Gormless Thug: Yeah, mind your business. We'll be moving along, so stop trying to bleed us for every coin we have.
Kuiyki: Forename, we see the real Apyaahi approaching!
Kuiyki: We have to buy time.
Ceetol Ja: Keep the henchmen talking!
Kuiyki: You there, excuse me! I, um...wouldn't go in here. The drinks are more water than spirit.
Apyaahi: Is that so?
Apyaahi: Well, good thing I'm not thirsty.
Ceetol Ja: No! Uh... The food! There's no food either! They've sold every last dish.
Apyaahi: What? And they have the gall to remain open!?
Apyaahi: Greed run amok, indeed. Luckily, I wasn't planning on ordering anything. I'd rather die than become a...<shudder>...paying customer.
Kuiyki & Ceetol Ja: Have you no shame!?
Gormless Thug: There was something else? I didn't think there was...
Graceless Thug: You were supposed to shore up our numbers, right? You said that artifact of yours would give us an army. Well, did it?
Ceetol Ja: Forename, get out of there! She's coming in!
Apyaahi: Oh, you're already here? You move quickly.
Apyaahi: Well, that means we can get started all the sooner. Once Tuliyollal succumbs to our wrath, together we shall celebrate the return of true liberty to Tural. Now, see to your preparations and then join us upstairs. We strike when I give the order.

Optional Dialogue

Unbound Enforcer: You're our new leader? Mustn't have been easy to pass Apyaahi's tests─if you have her respect, you have ours!
Apyaahi: I had preparations of my own to make on the way here, hence my delay. Return here when you've seen to yours.
Kuiyki: She's even more devious than I imagined. I can scarcely wait to see her in shackles, but I know a hasty misstep can quickly lead to ruin.

Speak with Ceetol Ja

Ceetol Ja: That was close! I don't know what would've happened if we were found out!
Ceetol Ja: We couldn't hear what you were saying while we were trying to distract Apyaahi. Did you get anything we can use?
Ceetol Ja: That's great! Tentoawa and the others have just arrived themselves─let's go meet them.

Optional Dialogue

Loashkana: While we are somewhat unfamiliar with the world outside Xak Tural, we were able to gather some information which should be of use.
Tepeke: I heard you transformed into Apyaahi herself. The varied powers of the treasures never cease to amaze...
Ceetol Ja: I wonder how their search went.
Kuiyki: The cocoon is safe with me.

Speak with Tentoawa (cutscene)

Tentoawa: I heard you ran into Apyaahi at the tavern. Tell us everything that happened.
Tentoawa: I see. Her plan is to strike at Tuliyollal from the Shaaloani side. Then we can focus our defenses there.
Loashkana: You said her minions spoke of an army being summoned by her treasure? That matches with a story we heard.
Loashkana: It was told to us by one of the vipers. We hoped their expertise in tracking deadly beasts such as the tural vidraal─the very source of our treasures' powers─might provide insight on the capabilities of hers.
Loashkana: Apparently they received reports that creatures across Tural were falling under the thrall of a Shetona woman. Even the most feral of beasts obeyed her like a docile lamb.
What will you say?
> I saw Apyaahi command a massive worm.
> The treasure must give her that power!
Loashkana: Well, we now know what our enemy is capable of!
Tepeke: I've heard that some animals hunt by hypnotizing their prey with sound, smell, or even magical energy.
Tepeke: Perhaps the tural vidraal whose essence lies in her treasure was one of those, but it's difficult to say which.
Ceetol Ja: Even so, we know Apyaahi's plan and the threat we face. We can prepare for whatever she might throw at us!
Tentoawa: We'll cut off her advance at Zorgor the Boundless. It'll take everything we have to drive her back, but if we fight as one, neither her nor her beasts will take a single step into Tuliyollal!
Tentoawa: I'll stay here for a while and keep an eye on things. If Apyaahi makes a move, I'll contact you at once. Can you tell Rral Majun what we've learned?

Speak with Rral Majun in Tuliyollal

Rral Majun: She's bringing an army of beasts to our doors!? There's so little time to prepare...
Rral Majun: And if the treasure can bend ferocious beasts to its will, we must consider the possibility it can be used on people, too.
Rral Majun: I'll bring this information to the Landsguard at once, that they may begin readying the city's defenses. I know neither you nor they will let a single citizen come to harm!
Rral Majun: This is it, Forename. With any luck, Apyaahi and her cronies will soon be languishing in cells!
