As children, Irvithe and his friend Grithil found themselves in Venmont Yards, hoping that learning the shipwrights' trade might grant them a means to survive. Much to their dismay, however, few have need of ships in a world where the sea itself has been swallowed by Light. As such, the twenty-six-year-old considers himself far better at constructing shacks than ships, but he nevertheless harbors dreams of building a grand vessel of his own.
